A Special Event to Support Autism Awareness Month
Crossfit is a popular and growing training program that’s primary focus is developing functional strength utilizing intense interval training, gymnastics, Olympic weightlifting, powerlifting, plyometrics, and flexibility. There is also a strong competitive aspect. Crossfit also happens to be a personal passion of Train 4 Autism Founder, Ben Fesagaiga.
April 19, 2014 marked a special day for Train 4 Autism as the Inaugural Battleground South Bay was held at Crossfit Unexpected in Carson CA. The goal of the event was to give beginners and intermediate athletes the same opportunity to compete and shine in a venue that tests their abilities and all for a wonderful cause.
We are really excited about this event considering we haven’t organized a crossfit competition before. With 3 months to plan, the event went off without a hitch.
Over 150 athletes registered and an audience of over 400 people came out to support their fellow athletes and teammates. Over $6,000 was raised to support Train 4 Autism’s Crossfit for special needs projects. We’ve got bigger and better plans for next year’s event. We want t thank all of the sponsors, participants, donors, and people who came out to support this event and our cause.
